Is a Shorty Wetsuit Enough for June in Sicily?
Everything You Need to Know Before You Pack
Yes – in most cases, a shorty wetsuit (2mm or 3/2mm) is enough for kitesurfing in Sicily in June.
The water is pleasantly warm, and the air temperature usually ranges between 25–30°C. Many kitesurfers ride in just a shorty – or even boardshorts – especially around midday.
However, we recommend bringing a pair of light leggings or a thin neoprene pant. Not for warmth, but as a protection against sea anemone stings.
Don’t worry – the stings are not dangerous. Think of them like mosquito bites in the water. If you do get stung, Aloe Vera gel works great and provides quick relief.
Best Options:
- Shorty wetsuit (2mm or 3/2mm)
- Neoprene leggings or surf tights (optional but useful)
- Full wetsuit 2mm (a great alternative if you’re more sensitive to cold or want full protection)
